The Film “Kinai ‘Eha (Extinguish Pain)” is a compelling documentary short film produced by Hyperspective and directed by Todd J. Robertson, that follows the transformative journey of Jaben, a young man who was incarcerated and has been working his way through the lingering effects of childhood trauma. The film explores his path within the Kinai ‘Eha program, an innovative initiative that provides alternative education and personal empowerment for youth seeking purpose, connection, and a deeper understanding of their Hawaiian cultural identity.

Jaben’s story is at the heart of the film, illustrating the challenges and triumphs of a youth determined to break free from the Pathway to Prison. Through Kinai ‘Eha, Jaben receives the support he needs to heal and grow. This film captures Jaben’s journey from a place of pain to one of empowerment.
